Getting Active down at the Farm!

Farm smallThe Active Leicester: BRF team paid a visit to Beggars Lane Farm today to run a warm up for local resident volunteers who are helping the 'b-connected' team to get their allotment ship shape and ready for a new crop of vegetables.

Gardening is a great activity to get active and keep fit, and also offers a number of other health and well-being benefits, such as stress-relief and self-esteem and the positive impact it can have on a person's mental health.

Weekly sessions will be held down at the Beggars Lane Farm, running every Wednesday from 9.30am - 2.00pm; with transport, lunch and refreshments all provided. Our ALBRF Project Activator will get you ready with some stretches and a warm up, and then you will be given some tasks to complete such as digging, planting, shifting etc.

This is a great way for those with an interest in garndering, or even those without, to get active and meet new people in picturesque surroundings. All the produce from the allotment is also used for the 'Braunstone Foodshare' groups, so you will also get a great feeling of satisfaction from helping out!
